THOMAS TAKES STORMPAY.COM DLMS POLE IN LOXLEY , AL

                LOXLEY, AL – William Thomas of Phenix City, AL set fast time and won the first 10-lap heat race on Friday night to earn the pole position for the 75-lap $5,000-to-win main event on Saturday night at Deep South Speedway for the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series.

Thomas started out the evening by setting fast among the 34 entrants with a lap around the 4/10-mile high-banked clay oval in 17.333 seconds driving the J.W. Miller Land and Timber Scorpion.  Thomas then led every lap in the first heat race to earn the inside front row seat for the big show on Saturday night.

Joining Thomas on the front row will be Jay Blair of Angie , LA in the Parish Disposal Mastersbilt.  The “Angie Assassin” won the second 10-lap heat race to earn the outside front row starting spot.

Derrick Rainey of Powder Springs, GA won the third 10-lap heat race in the Dixon Hauling and Grading Rocket and will start the feature race from the inside of the second row.  Shannon Buckingham of Morristown, TN will start the main event from the outside of the second row in the S&S Millwright Barry Wright after winning the fourth 10-lap heat race.

The top four finishers from each of the four heat races earned the “Sweet 16” starting spots in Saturday night’s main event.

Transferring to the big show in the first heat race along with Thomas were James Ussery Jr. of Cottondale, FL in the Shores Construction GRT, Chris Hoomes of Brenton, AL in the Speedy Lube GRT, and Robert Stutts of Murfreesboro, TN in the Bob Parks Realty Barry Wright.

Joining Blair as feature race transferees in the second heat race were the defending StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Champion David Gentry of Lewisburg, TN in the Dixon Plumbing Mastersbilt, Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS in the NeSmith Chevrolet Mastersbilt, and Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA in the Turner Excavating Hicks.

Stephen Brantley of Monroeville, AL in the Airport Sports Center Rocket, Ricky Haugen of Pace, FL in the VISA, MasterCard, Discover Larry Shaw, and the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring point leader Frank Ingram of Woodstock, GA in the Universal Concrete Rocket followed Rainey into the feature race in the third heat race.

The fourth heat race saw Chris Coggin of Orange Beach, AL in the Coggin Land Service Warrior, Frank Wilson of Harold, FL in the Wilson Lumber Company Rocket, and Joey Thomas of Vancleve, MS in the Thomas Motorsports Mastersbilt finished second through fourth respectively behind Buckingham to transfer into the big show.

Drivers that finished fifth on back in the four heat races on Friday night will have another opportunity to race their way into the main event in one of two 12-lap B-Mains on Saturday night that will see the top three finishers in each B-Main transfer into the feature race in starting spots 17 through 22.  Starting positions 23 and 24 are StormPay.com DLMS Top 15 Provisional spots.

Among the StormPay.com DLMS Top 15 point drivers still on the outside looking in are third-place Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, GA, eighth-place Jeff Fields of Aragon, GA, ninth-place Chris Tays of Corinth, MS, and 12th-place Carnell Parker III of Clarksville, TN.  Also still trying to make the show through a B-Main is National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN.
